Church Fires - Please stop the maddness! After a string of Church Fires, Chief's are pleading for the madness to stop. Payne Springs Fire Rescue assisted the City of Athens Fire Department on one of their three Church fires they had over the past two or so weeks. We responded with 11 firefighters and 4 apparatus. We did not mind assisting; we were just saddened at the thought of a church burning. Mostly sadden that it appeared that someone set it on fire. God protected all of us as we fought to bring the fire under control. Multi teams entered the building and found stairwells already burn beyond passage. It then was determined that we will pull out and go defensive. A good choice because not to long afterwards, part of the second floor came crashing down. We set the Aerial using the master stream to fight the fire. Firefighters worked very hard until the fire was under control. We just want the fires to stop! Please stop before you hurt one of my teams, friends or brothers/sisters firefighters! |

We are looking for donations. Due to recent unexpected events we are in need. Our main elevated aerial platform has just been placed out of service. A new unit could cost over 1 millon dollars, we have found a few certified "ready to respond" units but they are $75,000.00 to over $100,000.00 So, please assist us in our future plans. If you know a person, business, or foundation that could help, please let them know about us. Our Department will continue to grow and try to keep up with our surrounding community. But without your help, we can't do it! Please pass this website around and ask people to donate.
Thanks again, Randy Harley - Fire Chief |
